Black Lake

Black Lake is connected to the Inland Waterway by the Black River, but boaters trying to access the lake from there will be frustrated by the Alverno Dam. Frustrated also are the ancient sturgeon population that congregate at the dam while trying to make passage downstream into Lake Huron, but their numbers appear stable with the help of a State hatchery. The lake is primarily residential with no significant community on its shore, with the exception of Onaway State Park
